Public School Vetoes Church Message
First, let me say that I have not spoken with Brian about this. My comments are totally mine. I only know the story about their series, "The Best Sex Ever" from his blog and the front page of the Tallahassee Democrat. I know big things are going to come out of this for Genesis Church. Brian is a quality leader. He is surrounded by strong leaders. They are going to come out of it very strong. Still this has me scratching my head.
Our schools are slammed by morally ambiguous sex-ed classes, teen pregnancies, scandals involving teachers having sex with kids, and Leon High School asks a church that is renting their auditorium to remove their billboards promoting a Biblical perspective on sex.
Brian handled himself with a ridiculous amount of respect for who he's working with in the school. That says a lot about him and Genesis Church. I think it would be interesting to see if the school holds themselves to the same standard. A quick perusal of their sex-ed curriculum would most certainly point out their selective use of free speech squashing activities. Bummer for them.

thanks for the support brother! i only serve in the band @ GC.tv and i'm feeling the ridiculous heat from this. tallahassee is very narrow minded...it's always nice to be reminded of others that are behind us!

Kyle,
According to Mark Hughes of the Buzz Factor, the key ingredient to creating buzz is controversy. In spite of the fact that it does seem ridiculous, there is an upside. Keep it positive. Be thankful for the extra exposure (no pun intended).

Should we mention that the things the kids are seening on commericals, and how about the my space advertisements, the cover of magazines that are at the check outlines.....But we must thank the people that are "protecting" our children from the Bible. We must not teach our children that healthy sexual relationships between married husband and wife are in God's plan! Humph! I could say so much more, but I won't, I am reminded why I homeschool my children!

Amen, brother. Thanks for the support. I'm an intern at GC.TV directly under Brian, and I completely agree with your thoughts about his strong leadership. He's an amazing man of God and unashamed. Read my post entitled, "I don't get it" for my thoughts on the billboard issue.

Maybe the parents at these schools should start teaching their children about sex...imagine that, Parents doing their REAL job--educating their offspring.
Right on, Brian...go for it!
